In 2004, Dr. Pippa Chapman purchased an abandoned building in downtown Pearisburg as a part of the Pearisburg Downtown Revitalization Project. This building would become the future home of the Pearisburg eSell Center.
Specialty Auctions, Inc. naturally evolved out of the Pearisburg eSell operations. In 2005, in order to further assist with the auction aspect of these two businesses, Dr. Pippa Chapman attended the Mendendall School of Auctioneering, becoming a licensed auctioneer.
In Novemember 2006, Pippa assumed the management and operations of Specialty Auctions, Inc. The Pearisburg eSell Center ceased operation in April 2007. In June of 2007, Pippa received her designation as a NAA Certified Estate Specialist.
Recognizing very quickly that the Auction Industry was on the brink of major changes due to the Internet, Pippa began learning everything she could about online auctions and internet bidding. Today, Specialty Auctions, Inc. is striving to become Southwest Virginia's best source of Internet Based Auctions.
At Specialty Auctions, we build auction events, designing them around themes that attract a specific kind of bidder to the particular collection we are offering. It takes a little more time, extensive research and close attention to detail to build these types of auctions, but we believe the results are well worth the extra effort.
